Music Mondays

Music Mondays is her for a way to get over your Monday blues or if you have a case of the Mondays. Music Monday is going to be a weekly submission on new bands, albums, and artist information. This week will be an overview of some bands I personally think everyone should be aware of. If you listen to them, awesome, if not I highly suggest you give them a listen to see what you think. This Monday I will be covering 2 bands. The Wonder Years and Man Overboard. First let's talk about The Wonder Years. The Wonder Years is a band from Pennsylvania that got their start in 2005. The Wonder Years currently have 3 full length albums and 2 EP's, the newest being Suburbia I've Given You All And Now Im Nothing. The Wonder Years have recently started to gain influence in the pop punk scene, they are the ones that started the east coast pop punk scene which is currently the biggest scene in pop punk. Man Overboard is quite similar to The Wonder Years in musical style. Man Overboard got their start in New Jersey, again going along with the east coast pop punk scene. They have released 4 EP's and 2 full length albums, the newest being self titled Man Overboard. The reason I chose these two bands is because they mean something to me. These bands are very influential in my life and I hope they bring something good to your life as well from hearing them. Go check them out, and give them a listen, The Wonder Years and Man Overboard.

Picture of the Day

The picture of the day is the picture above. The picture of the day is something I'm going to try for a little while. The picture of the day is going to be an unrelated picture to music but will still be abstract but in some way I will relate it to the concept of music, what this blog is about. This picture reminds me of how hard the music industry can be. First you have the individual barriers in the foreground which represent individual obstacles a band deals with on their road to the top. Next you have the flat plain, a barren wasteland where a band doesn't see much as far as growing. This represents a stale time for the band. Finally, the big climb. Being in a band is a huge struggle financially as well as emotionally. The mountain in the background represents a bands big climb to the top. Not all bands can make it to the top but many try. There is not room for every band at the top, there is more room at the bottom. This picture is a great representation of the struggles for a band. It's important to know a band "personally", to know what they went through. It makes it more special to listen to their music.

About This Blog

About this blog: Music is a part of everyone's lives. Music is a great source of entertainment in many categories including hip-hop, rock, alternative, country, and many many others. I have been a part of the music scene for as long as I can remember. I since early high school I have always been in some type of band, and before that, music has always been my biggest inspiration in life. The specific genre I will be working with consists of mostly sub genres including pop-punk, alternative, indie, and emo. The goal of this blog is to inform and review specific albums and bands. As well as being an information source for these genres as well. I'm hoping for people to have a new found respect for the genre and maybe you will like one of the bands and learn something.
